SmartHand aspires to make a 3D printed hand prosthesis to perform functional movements by applying  Myo Armband and a model trained on artificial neural networks.

The core of the problem lies in the fact that the price of bionic hands on the market is exceptionally high, which makes it practically unaccessible for small children. As members of this age group are bound to grow fast and undergo biological change there is an ever-present demand to update the hand prosthesis from time to time. With SmartHand, we aim at creating low-end bionic hands with a range of applications as »typing function« or »grabbing function« et al. By constantly keeping muscles moving, we can prevent muscular dystrophy and maintain the inevitable biological functions.
